The Kasahara Pathways in Science Fund

Opening doors for the next generation of scientists

Friends of the National Center is proud to announce the launch of a new initiative supporting undergraduate and graduate student interns at UCAR, NSF NCAR, and UCP.

The Kasahara Pathways in Science Fund provides travel stipends for interns to attend scientific or industry conferences after completing their summer internships at UCAR, NSF NCAR, or UCP. These experiences allow young scientists to present their work, expand their networks, and take critical steps toward building careers in Earth system science and beyond.

The Fund is being launched thanks to a generous founding gift from the Kasahara family, honoring the legacy of Dr. Akira Kasahara. A pioneer in atmospheric science at NSF NCAR, Dr. Kasahara was deeply committed to supporting the next generation of scientists and researchers. His mentorship and dedication to advancing scientific discovery continue to inspire our community today.

What Your Gift Supports

By launching this Fund, we honor Dr. Kasahara’s legacy and help ensure that today’s emerging scientists have the opportunities, access, and support they need to thrive. The Fund supports any student in the current summer cohort of interns across our organization with a $3,000 stipend to support their travel expenses to attend a conference of their choice.
